Camping, Baby!

So about that audible....

Turns out rooms are cheap last minute on a Tuesday...

But first...

Woke up today at the Calico, CA KOA, which was... uneventful.

Had a great breakfast at a 50s themed diner, and went to tour the Calico Ghost Town, which, along with the outlet mall are "the two big attractions", as we hear...

Not much to say here - it exactly what you think - so I'll let the photos talk:

Took about an hour to walk through, buy some trinkets and head back to collect the trailer.

On through the mojave, passing the airplane junkyard, Edwards AFB, and some sweet reflective solar arrays...

We dropped the trailer at the RV park (back to it tomorrow) and headed into town..

Had a dip in the pool, and headed to Holstein's burgers in Cosmo across the street.

Wow. This is a must to revisit.

Afterwards, we walked the kids around the various nearby, non-adult activities in Vegas:

The cosmopolitan lobby...

The Bellagio Gardens

And of course the fountains (big hit)

Quick stop to see the flamingos in, well, The Flamingo, and we had some exhausted kids.

Tomorrow it's more pool, maybe a little more Vegas, and we'll check out Lake Mead.

Oh, and back to camping. (But man this bed is comfortable.)

  1. Three nights in and you're already in a hotel?! Just kidding. :) Looks like so much fun!! And Las Vegas is blazing hot, so probably a good call all around.
