Hoodoos! (Bryce Canyon)

While Zion is huge and magnificent and awe inspiring, Bryce feels like a fine work of art. It's awe inspiring also, but...in a smaller way.

The entire place looks like it's a set at Disneyland. "This can't be real" was said more than once.

Both up close...

And from afar...

Our day in the park revolved around a morning hike. 3.5 miles (!) down into the canyon and back up.

The hike down (Wall Street side of the Navajo loop) was fun for everyone.

Switchbacks down into what appeared to be another slot canyon (though we're told it's not due to the different geology - slot canyon are carved by rivers)

But either way, we were amazed.

And of course, who doesn't like a good hoodoo?

Once at the bottom, well, that was a pretty good hike for the girls. They were alllllll set. They did their junior ranger activities (benchmark rubbings here)

And we're ready to head on to the next activity.

Unfortunately...the next activity was 800 feet or so up and 2 miles, well...that way...

To be fair, it was tough. There were some...discussions....but they did it!

And we were all rewarded with more of everything this place had to offer.

We completed our 3rd set of junior ranger activities, got their badges (complete with swearing-in ceremony)

And headed back for some earned relaxing time...including a dip in the pool.

And then, maybe Caitlin fell asleep at 6:30 or so. 😴

Tomorrow is another travel day, but broken up with Grand Staircase-Escalante NM and Capitol Reef NP before we roll into Moab for 4 nights (yay!).
