Rafting the colorado

Today was our rafting trip on the colorado. Billed as a half-day family trip down a few miles if the Colorado with class 1/2 rapids...it fit exactly.


We got bused about 30 minutes upstream to the put-in. 3 rafts of about 10 people plus a guide each.


The water was calm, but VERY cold. Though with the heat, it was...refreshing at each swimming opportunity.


And the scenery was fantastic



The trip was a couple of hours, after which we had a killer BBQ lunch at a local restaurant (visit the Broken Oar if you're ever here!) And took the kids to a local park with a unique set of equipment...


Musical instruments (xylophones) out of all manner of material. Big hit...though we certainly tired them out.


Tomorrow is Arches NP and a hike to Delicate Arch (2 miles round trip or so). Leaving early to beat the heat (and crowds) as much as possible.

Finally Home!

We're home! It was a great trip, everyone loved it, but everyone is also very glad to be back. Comfortable beds, good coffee, and furry friends that apparently missed us! We ended up driving a little over 4000 miles: And according to our RV fridge tracker, We visited: 9 National Parks 3 National Monuments 2 National Recreation Areas 1 National Historic Site 1 Ghost town And Jackson :-) And we stayed in 6 States (Including 4 new ones for our family) Favorites for the trip: Jeff - Yellowstone by far. It impressed beyond my wildest expectations.  Lisa - Arches NP - Delicate Arch hike and the less-crowded parts of Yellowstone. Sydney - Las Vegas, Bryce Canyon and and Crystal Cave Caitlin - Sequoia, Yellowstone, and the SLC "Space Museum" (planetarium...aka the most recent thing 😆) Now it's a couple of weeks of downtime and we're off again - 3 nights in Ft. Bragg at the end of the month #sabbaticalsummer. Thanks for following along!
